All right! We’re a month in to the new year, and now’s a great time to check up on your goals!
Take stock – are thing going according to plan? Probably not. So, what are you going to do about it? Most people do nothing, let things slide, and then feel bad or swear off resolutions for next year. But you’re not most people, are you? That means that you’re up to the challenge of figuring out what’s going wrong and how to fix it.
Look at your goals. Are they S.M.A.R.T.? More importantly, are they reasonably do-able? If they’re not, then you may have to look at your goals and refine them. Remember, your goals aren’t set in stone, so you can tweak them to make them more achievable.
So, you goals make sense – but is what are you using to get you to your goals? After all, if you don’t put aside the time or money for your goals, they won’t happen. Do you have enough resources set aside to nurture your goals? If not, what are you going to change so that you have the resources?
Finally, are the actions you’re taking every day the actions that put you on the path to accomplishing your goals? Even if you have the goal and the resources, if you’re not taking daily, concrete steps to achieve your goals, they’re not going to happen.
Troubleshoot your goals with my favorite free online book, Wishcraft by Barbara Sher. The site itself may be tacky, but the material in the book is invaluable. And don’t forget, it’s O.K. to ask for help!
Remember – February’s a whole new month, and a great opportunity to restart you resolutions!
